In a human clinical trial, a luteolin-based nutraceutical improved liver fat, insulin resistance, LDL cholesterol, and overall liver function¹. A later reanalysis found similar benefits in those with early signs of metabolic dysfunction², suggesting support for both management and prevention.

Large population studies have also found that even small amounts of dietary luteolin are associated with significantly lower risks of cardiac and all-cause mortality³. The effect was dose-dependent: the more luteolin consumed, the greater the benefit. While typical dietary intake remains extremely low, SugarShield provides a highly concentrated and bioavailable dose—delivering vastly more active luteolin to support the same core metabolic pathway.

These effects may stem, in part, from preclinical evidence that luteolin inhibits fructokinase—the enzyme that drives fructose metabolism⁴. Blocking this pathway has been proposed as a root-level approach to improving mitochondrial function, insulin sensitivity, and overall metabolic resilience.

Tart cherry extract has also been clinically studied for its ability to lower uric acid—a byproduct of fructose metabolism linked to inflammation and poor mitochondrial health⁵.
